I’m sitting in hot water, thinking about how much I miss the stars. I want to build a transparent capsule where I can fall asleep and wake up in the grass. I’ve always wanted furniture to feel like an embrace. What if this tent becomes my first sculpture?
Introduction
In a world full of hustle, noise, and constant stimuli, we long for places where we can be ourselves — calm, focused, and inspired by the nature around us. EchoSphere is a concept that answers precisely this need.
My thoughts turned to the idea of a nomadic bubble — a transparent, movable tent like a dream capsule. It is a design suspended between interior and landscape — intimate, yet open to infinity.
Concept description
EchoSphere is not just an ordinary bubble. It is an adaptive, transparent space that responds to its user’s breath and mood, as well as to the surrounding environment. Its rounded form and gentle lines evoke a sense of safety, lightness, and freedom all at once. It dims as you fall asleep and brightens when you dream.
It finds the quietest place in its surroundings on its own — as if the intuition of the space were guiding you. And the dream you had? It prints it onto the translucent wall as a fragment of text, colour, or form.
EchoSphere users experience a unique connection with nature without giving up comfort and privacy. The interior is equipped with soft cushions, natural materials, and intelligent lighting that changes according to the time of day and the user’s mood. Thanks to sensors and a connection to a mobile app, everyone can set their ideal mode — from meditation and reading to sleep.
Who it is for
EchoSphere is intended for creatives, nomads, wellness enthusiasts, and anyone looking for a personal refuge beyond the traditional home. It presents a new way of perceiving space — as a living organism that adapts to human needs.
A vision for the future
EchoSphere could redefine the meaning of living and working, opening the way to a flexible, personal, and ecological lifestyle. Imagine a world where your “home” is wherever you want to be, while also being your greatest source of calm and inspiration. And sleeping beneath the stars?
Not for living — for resting.
Prototype notes
This proposal was created as a conceptual study within Grain FutureLab.
Prototype:
- Shape: a round inflatable structure with a transparent, lightweight weather-resistant film, capable of maintaining a stable indoor climate
- Interior: a soft seating ring with cushions, a floor made of natural materials (e.g. a tatami mat)
- Technology: sensors for monitoring the climate and the user’s mood, automatic ventilation and lighting control, and the option to connect to a mobile app for setting modes (e.g. meditation, reading, sleep)
- Mobility: an inflatable base and lightweight structure enabling easy transport and quick setup in different locations (nature, city, garden)
Prototyping principle
The aim is to develop the idea far enough to evaluate its direction. By sharing it, we gain opinions, insights, and valuable feedback — thank you for it in advance.
